Faith: A Journey Beyond Logic.

Faith! What a wonderful word! Faith in Christ! What an expression that makes the hearts of Christians vibrate!

The Bible teaches us that faith can move mountains. In group Bible studies or when listening to sermons, I often hear the exhortation: “Grow in your faith!”.

Before my conversion, this expression seemed banal to me, devoid of meaning. Having a scientific background, my worldview was imprisoned in logic and reason, shaped by my intellectual perception and lived experiences. I believed only in what conformed to my own thinking, the faith I had myself constructed. In short, my faith was reduced to giving credence only to what was proven.

After my conversion, my understanding of faith gradually evolved. Reducing faith to a mere expectation of proof now seems limiting and obscures the extraordinary richness that springs from human experiences. Over time, I began to explore beyond the confines of my preconceived world. The expression “growing one’s faith” then took on a profound spiritual dimension. I realized that faith cannot grow in a world governed solely by logic and empirical verification. It can only flourish when we place ourselves beyond content and what is proven, adopting a spirit of trust and hope. This involves inner conviction, perseverance in the face of trials, active engagement, and a willingness to go beyond the comfort of absolute certainty.

From Spiritual Habits to Personalized Growth

In the growth of the Christian faith, general spiritual habits are unanimously recognized and beneficial. They constitute a framework, tools, and shared experiences that strengthen the conviction and spiritual commitment of believers: biblical reading and meditation, prayer, service to others, participation in the church community, and sanctification.

However, there is an essential nuance in the way we “grow our faith,” as it is undeniably linked to each person’s personality, sensibilities, culture, emotions, and individual history. The Holy Spirit guides each believer according to their spiritual gifts, working to grow their faith in Christ in a unique way.

I am convinced that “growing one’s faith” can take many different forms and adapt to individual inclinations. Personally, I am one of those who favor analytical methods based on theological study, intellectual understanding of Scripture, inner reflection, contemplation, and meditation. Therefore, I have chosen to focus on writing short biblical reflections. This approach suits me perfectly, allowing me to actively and dynamically interact with the Scriptures. It is a path that brings me great spiritual satisfaction in my knowledge of God, and through this, it advances my faith in Christ.

Faith is a gift from God. Nourish your faith so that it grows!

I thank my Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit for guiding me.
